Fidelis Maine coons was established in 2006 with the leasing of two queens from New Zealand. We are a very small cattery with only a small number of Queens and Stud males we bred primarily to produce cats we can show and any we don’t keep are sold as pets or show alters. I have been breeding border collies for 17 years and have been very particular about breeding sound health dogs and I wanted to go the same way with my Maine Coons. After much research I realize this breed does have some health problems but I also have found out over the past few years that the only way to produce sound health Maine Coon is to make sure all breeding stock are tested and if any come up with undesirable test results to take them out of the gene pool.

The Maine Coon breed has been established in Australia by some wonderful breeders that have the opinion that the cats and the breed come first, regardless of the financial burden it takes to ensure we do all the tests and take cats out of the gene pool how ever hard it is.

It is my privilege to belong to a small group of breeders that do care for this wonderful breed and it is one of the rules of the club to ensure all breeding cats have all the required health results. This club (United Maine Coon Fanciers of Australia) was formed as a caretaker of the breed in Australia and I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a Maine Coon as a life time companion to get one from one of the breeder in this club. Information about the health issues affecting this breed will be available on the Health page.

The Fidelis prefix was established in 1993 when I started Breeding Border Collies which after 17 years is still my passion. To see Fidelis Border Collies visit their page
